Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) sits on Istanbul's Asian side, roughly 55–65 km from Taksim Square. To reach the European city centre, you must cross the Bosphorus — which means any route adds bridge tolls and bridge traffic to your journey.
The good news: there are several options. Here's what each one looks like in 2026.
Option 1: Private Transfer (Recommended)
Your driver meets you at Column 13 at the arrivals exit with a name sign. All bridge tolls are included. Flight tracking means your driver adjusts if your flight is late — at no extra charge.
Option 2: Havaş Airport Bus to Taksim
The Havaş bus runs directly from SAW to Taksim (İnönü Caddesi stop) via the TEM motorway and Bosphorus Bridge. Comfortable coaches with luggage storage. Drops at a central point — not your hotel door.
Option 3: Public Bus (E10) + Kadıköy Ferry
The E10 bus runs from SAW to Kadıköy (Asian side ferry terminal). From Kadıköy, ferries cross to Eminönü or Karaköy on the European side, from where you can take a tram or taxi to Taksim. Very cheap but time-consuming with luggage.
Option 4: Taxi (Metered)
Taxis from SAW to Taksim use meters — and the bridge toll (TRY 100–150) is added on top. In traffic, fares can exceed €120. No guarantee of an English-speaking driver.
